Trans Peoples’ Interest in Reproduction and Fertility Preservation

You are invited to participate in a research study for trans people – the term “trans” being used in this case to refer to people who self-identify as trans male, trans female, nonbinary, gender queer, agender, and other non-cis genders. We are interested in learning about your interest in reproductive choices. We also want to learn if you perceive any barriers to having children or accessing fertility services. We also want to look to see if participant’s personal characteristics (such as age, relationship status and opinion about health care providers) impact your opinions about having kids or reaching out for fertility help. We would also like to see what challenges you may have faced in the past about having children or accessing fertility care. Our ultimate goal is to capture the voices of trans Canadians in an effort to enhance fertility care for trans folks.

There are 3 qualifications to participate in this study:

  1. Self-identify as trans (including trans male, trans female, nonbinary, gender queer, agender or any gender other than cis);

  2. 16 years or older;

  3. Canadian citizen or permanent resident.

Participation in this study is voluntary and anonymous. If you agree to participate in this study, you will be asked to complete an online survey, which should take about 10 minutes to complete. The survey includes questions about non-identifying demographics, your gender journey, your past healthcare experiences, and your interest in reproductive choices.
