About Justice Navigation

Social systems can be overwhelming — especially when they weren’t built with us in mind.

That’s why we are now offering a new pilot service at Skipping Stone made possible by support from the Alberta Law Foundation.

Our Justice Navigator offers one-to-one, affirming and trauma-informed support for Two-Spirit, trans, and gender diverse people across Alberta. This service is here to help bridge to safer, culturally attuned support, and reduce the harm so often experienced in complex systems.

Whether you need resources, an advocate, emotional support, or someone to help you figure out where to start, we can help.

What we offer

This role provides one-to-one support to clients navigating:

  • family law matters (custody, guardianship, divorce, name and gender marker changes);

  • immigration and refugee processes;

  • social benefits systems (income assistance, disability benefits including ADAP and AISH, pensions);

  • human rights issues;

  • referrals to affirming lawyers and legal services, and, more.

While the Justice Navigator does not provide legal advice, they play a critical role in bridging clients to safe, culturally attuned legal supports and reducing harm within complex systems.
