OPEN STUDIO:
Art Therapy for Two-Spirit,
trans & gender diverse teens

About Open Studio

Open Studio is a program for Two-Spirit, trans and gender diverse youth 13-17 which uses a variety of artistic mediums to explore various themes in mental health, identity, belonging and community. Each session follows a three-part structure: grounding, making, and sharing. The 8-week program is facilitated by Two-Spirit, trans and gender diverse community members and offered at no cost to participants.

Every session uses a different creative modality; from photography, to collage, poetry, drawing, sculpture, and textile art to build a toolkit of expressive skills that participants carry forward long after the program ends. There's no right or wrong, and nothing needs to be finished to be valid.

This program is aligned with gender affirming, creative arts-based, and mindfulness based models, and focuses on personal expression, artistic exploration, and meaning making.
