EDUCATORS' NIGHT WORKSHOP:
SUPPORTING TRANS STUDENTS

MONDAY, MAY 7  |  7:00pm - 10:00pm
MCHUGH HOUSE  |  1515 Centre st s

Educators are increasingly likely to encounter gender diversity in the students they teach. However many report feeling under-equipped to provide competent care and support for transgender and gender diverse youth. This workshop will explore evidence-based practical strategies to create safer and more inclusive schools and classrooms.

The workshop will include presentations and a panel discussion from students, teachers, as well as support staff and presentations by special guest: Dr Kris Wells and the Calgary Board of Education SOGI (sexual orientation, gender identity) team.

Drinks and light snacks will be provided.

QUEERING UP FAITH:
FROM TOLERANCE TO CELEBRATION

TUESDAY, MAY 8  |  7:00pm - 10:00pm

Most of us hear the message that being a person of faith and being LGBTQ2+ cannot go together. The truth is that we don’t have to choose one part of our identity over the other, but for many in the LGBTQ2+ community, living in integrity as a whole person and pursuing a life and relationships that are true to themselves, often results in the loss of the community that has been a part of their roots for years. How can we deal with this loss? Is there hope for believing in a faith that accepts us as we are? How can we be allies to those who are marginalized and move from tolerance to celebration?

The incredible Pam Rocker, atypical activist, award winner writer, speaker and musician, who has worked for many years for the full inclusion of LGBTQ2+ people in faith communities and beyond, will be joining us for a incredible evening.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 9  |  7:00pm - 10:00pm
MCHUGH HOUSE  |  1515 Centre st s

“Pink or blue?” “Boy or girl?” “Trucks or tiaras?”
When children come into our lives, many of us encounter assumptions about our babies’ gender. However, many parents and caregivers quickly learn that there is more to gender than two rigid boxes!

We'll explore the gender, equip ourselves with tools, and learn how to navigate conversations about gender with our children.
